Texas cat jumps record distance

A cat from Dallas, Texas, has made history by jumping an incredible distance. Oscar, a 7-year-old cat, set a new Guinness World Record by leaping 256.54 centimetres, the longest jump ever recorded by a cat.

Oscar belongs to Theodore Shiells, who began training him with small tricks like sitting and fetching. About two years ago, Oscar started jumping for fun, beginning with just a few inches. Over time, his leaps got longer and more daring—even jumping through hoops!

After many months of training and over 1,000 practice jumps, Oscar finally beat the previous world record of about 7.5 feet. At first, Shiells thought it would be impossible, but Oscar enjoyed the challenge. “Since Oscar liked ‘air time,’ we decided: ‘Let’s go for it!’” Shiells said.

Now Oscar is a world record holder, and he’s not the only talented pet in the family. His feline sister, August Ray, has her own special skill. She competes in surfing contests, even racing against dogs!
