Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina are the new champions of the 2026 Australian Open.

Alcaraz, a 22-year-old from Spain, beat tennis legend Novak Djokovic in four sets to win the men’s title. By doing this, he became the youngest man ever to win all four major tennis tournaments — the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open — known as a “career Grand Slam.” He won 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, even after losing the first set quickly.

Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles and is 38 years old, had never lost an Australian Open final until now. Alcaraz said winning this match was a dream come true and thanked his new coaching team for their support.

In the women’s final, 26-year-old Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan defeated Aryna Sabalenka in a close three-set match: 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Rybakina had lost to Sabalenka in the same final two years ago, but this time she stayed calm and confident to win her second Grand Slam title.

Her quiet celebration matched her cool playing style, even though she said her heart was beating fast. Rybakina first won Wimbledon in 2022, and now, after a strong end to 2025, she has added the Australian Open to her list of achievements.
