The legendary Kiwi band Six60 is stepping up to help Aotearoa reclaim the Guinness World Record for the largest haka ever performed.

This massive event will take place next weekend at Auckland’s Eden Park on September 29, and organisers are hoping to gather a whopping 10,000 participants to perform the famous “Ka Mate” haka!

The current record for the largest haka is held by France. Back in 2014, a total of 4,028 people united to perform the haka. But now, it’s New Zealand’s turn to take back the crown—and who better to lead the charge than the award-winning band Six60? They’ll be joined by other Kiwi stars like Anika Moa, Kings, Tami Neilson, Alien Weaponry, and the iconic Topp Twins.

In 2017, there was a huge effort in Rotorua to break the record, but unfortunately, it wasn’t officially recognised by Guinness World Records. This time, though, everything’s in place, and Dame Hinewehi Mohi, a beloved music legend, is determined to bring the title back to where it belongs.

If you want to be part of this moment, you can grab one of the 10,000 tickets available for participants via the Haka Record website.

Janie wrote an account of a science project that she did at her primary school. Read her first draft. It contains some errors.

The Experiment

We had a library lesson at school. I read about a great experiment. It was for my science project. I decided to copy it. Before I could carry out the experiment, I had to collect a glass bottle, a hard-boiled egg, and some match’s. When it was time to present my project I told the class that I would make the egg go into the bottle. I asked my teacher to light the match and drop it in the bottle for me. Next, I put the peeled egg on top of the bottle opening. When the match had used up all the oxygen inside the bottle. The egg was sucked right in. I was so relieved that the experiment had worked. All my classmates were really impressed. My teacher said, “well done Janie!”
