The Silver Ferns began their northern tour with a clear 63–41 victory against Scotland in Glasgow on Monday.

This match marked their first game in Scotland since the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Ferns were in control throughout the match, winning all four quarters and holding a solid 33–22 lead by half-time. Shooters Amelia Walmsley and Martina Salmon led the scoring, with Salmon making 33 goals from 37 attempts. Her strong performance earned her the title of player of the match.

Although the Ferns won comfortably, Salmon noted that the team has room to improve. “We did our best, but there’s a whole other level we can reach,” she said. She pointed out small errors, like passes going out of court, that the team needs to fix before the next game.

The second and final Test match against Scotland will be played at the same venue. After that, the Silver Ferns will travel to England for a three-Test series, starting in London on Sunday.
