New Zealand Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson will temporarily return to Red Bull for the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend. Lawson is stepping in after Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar injured his wrist during training. It will be another chance for the 24-year-old Kiwi to race for one of Formula 1’s top teams.

Lawson normally drives for Racing Bulls, which is Red Bull’s sister team. He will take Hadjar’s place for the Dutch Grand Prix, which is the 12th race of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Lawson has raced in Formula 1 before, including making his debut at the same Dutch track in 2023.

Former Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda will replace Lawson at Racing Bulls for the weekend. Tsunoda is currently a test and reserve driver for both teams. Racing Bulls also wished Hadjar a speedy recovery.

Hadjar is currently eighth in the drivers’ championship with 68 points, while his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen is sixth with 109 points. Lawson is ninth with 66 points. The Italian Grand Prix at Monza will follow the Dutch race two weeks later.
