Argentina’s rugby team made history in Buenos Aires by defeating the All Blacks 29–23.

This was the first time Argentina has ever beaten the All Blacks on home soil. The match took place during the Rugby Championship on Saturday and thrilled the cheering Argentine crowd.

The game began with New Zealand looking strong, scoring two tries in the first half through Billy Proctor and Fletcher Newell. However, momentum shifted when the All Blacks were given several yellow cards, meaning they had to play with fewer players at key moments.

Argentina quickly took advantage of the situation. Juan Martín González scored a try, and later Gonzalo García added another. Accurate penalty kicks helped stretch Argentina’s lead to 26–13 with only 20 minutes left.

The All Blacks tried to fight back with a late try from Samisoni Taukei’aho, bringing them close again. But another yellow card weakened their chances, and Los Pumas pulled further ahead with one last penalty.

With the score at 29–23, the final whistle signalled a famous victory. Argentine fans erupted with joy, waving flags and chanting as their team celebrated on the field.

At a local reserve near Rotorua, a group of Year 8 students helped with a native planting project. Before the project began, the area was dry and muddy, with only a few struggling grasses left beside the stream. Over several weekends, volunteers planted more than 300 young kānuka, mānuka, and carex plants. They also laid mulch to hold moisture in the soil and placed protective guards around each plant so rabbits would not eat the leaves.

After three months, the students noticed that insects had started returning to the reserve. Small birds were feeding in the new shrubs, and the stream edge looked less bare. The group recorded the growth of the plants and compared it with earlier photos. Their teacher said the project showed how careful work can slowly improve a damaged place.
