New Zealand has secured a spot in the Champions Trophy semi-finals after a strong victory over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. A brilliant century from Rachin Ravindra helped the Black Caps chase down Bangladesh’s total of 236, winning by five wickets with 23 balls to spare.

This win, along with their earlier victory, means New Zealand advances to the semi-finals from Group A alongside India.

Bangladesh batted first and scored 236 for nine in 50 overs. Their captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, was the top scorer with 77 runs. New Zealand’s bowlers performed well, with spinner Michael Bracewell taking four wickets for just 26 runs, while fast bowler Will O’Rourke claimed two wickets for 48 runs.

New Zealand’s chase started poorly, losing Will Young for a duck and captain Kane Williamson for just five runs. At one point, they were struggling at 15 for two. However, Ravindra and Devon Conway (30) built a solid 57-run partnership, stabilizing the innings. Ravindra then teamed up with Tom Latham, who scored 55, to take the team closer to victory.

Ravindra’s outstanding knock of 112 included 12 fours and one six. Glenn Phillips (21*) and Michael Bracewell (11*) finished the match comfortably.

New Zealand will face India in Dubai on Sunday for their final group-stage match, which will determine the top qualifier from Group A.
