A Hungarian man has danced his way into the Guinness World Records by playing Dance Dance Revolution for 144 hours non-stop.

Szabolcs Csépe, also known as “GrassHopper”, is 34 years old and now holds the record for the longest video game marathon and the longest marathon on a rhythm game.

Csépe’s incredible effort beat the previous record of 138 hours and 34 seconds, which was set in 2015 by American gamer Carrie Swidecki, who played Just Dance. Inspired by Swidecki’s dedication, Csépe trained for years to improve his skills and endurance.

He said he had been dreaming of breaking this record for a long time and slowly prepared himself with smaller gaming marathons. “It must feel like a dream achievement to all of us,” he said, reflecting on the long journey.

This is not Csépe’s first time in the record books. He has also set records for playing different types of video games, including a 28-hour session on a Naruto game and a 32-hour puzzle game marathon. In 2023, he played Gran Turismo 7 for 90 hours, earning even more records in the gaming world.
