A yoga teacher living in Vietnam broke a Guinness World Record after performing 86 push-ups underwater on a single breath. Kamal Kaloi, 38, who was originally from India, achieved the feat in a pool in Ninh Binh in October 2025.

Kaloi said his years of training in calisthenics and breath holding helped him prepare for the huge challenge. He explained that he had always felt inspired whenever he saw other people achieve incredible records, which pushed him to try setting his own. This was not his first record either, as he had already earned a Guinness World Record in 2020 for completing 21 consecutive yoga positions underwater.

After reviewing the evidence, Guinness World Records confirmed that Kaloi had officially claimed the title for the most underwater push-ups with a single breath by a male athlete. He said his yoga practice played a big part in his success, helping him become skilled at holding his breath underwater for up to six minutes at a time.

Kaloi added that he was not only able to hold his breath for long periods, but could also perform physical activities while doing so. His achievement showed just how far dedication, training and self-belief could take a person.
