An Egyptian basketball player has broken two Guinness World Records by making incredible long-distance basketball shots.
Alie Wessam, who is 21 years old, achieved the records in a gym on the same day. He made the farthest basketball hook shot from 25.25 metres away. He also made the farthest backwards basketball shot from 27.58 metres away.
The backwards shot beat the previous record of 26.72 metres. That record had been set in 2024 by Harlem Globetrotters player Corey “Thunder” Law. Wessam showed great skill and accuracy to make both record-breaking shots.
Wessam said it was an incredible feeling to break a record held by the famous Harlem Globetrotters because he had watched them since he was a child. He said he has great respect for the team and what they have achieved. However, he also said that he always wants to challenge himself and hopes to break even more of their records in the future.
