An American man has set a new world record by pulling on 32 T-shirts in just 60 seconds — and says it felt like wrestling a straitjacket.
David Rush, from Idaho in the United States, already holds more Guinness World Records at the same time than anyone else in the country. He recently added another title to his collection: the most T-shirts put on in one minute by an individual.
Rush is no stranger to this kind of challenge. He already held records for the most T-shirts put on in 30 seconds and the fastest time to pull on 10 T-shirts. But this new attempt came with its own difficulties.
“Once you get past the tenth shirt you are not just fighting the clock anymore because you are fighting the fabric,” Rush explained. He said each extra layer squashes the ones underneath, making it harder and harder to lift his arms. By the end, he said, it felt like being wrapped in a straitjacket.
Rush actually managed to pull on 35 shirts during the attempt, but Guinness World Records disqualified three of them. The problem? The hems of those shirts did not fully clear his waistline under the weight of all the layers. That brought his official total to 32, which was still well above the 25 needed to break the record.
