The 2024 Winter Games have begun in Queenstown, New Zealand, drawing over 500 athletes from 35 countries.
This event, often called the “mini Olympics,” is the largest snow sports competition in the Southern Hemisphere. It features thrilling freeriding, alpine ski racing, and park and pipe events. For many athletes, including freestyle skier Nico Porteous, this is their first chance to earn points toward qualifying for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Winter Games will run for just over two weeks, ending on September 9th. Events are being held across four resorts in the Queenstown Lakes district, and the public is encouraged to watch for free.
Porteous, a two-time Winter Olympic medalist, is excited to compete on home soil and hopes to inspire more Kiwis to try half-pipe skiing. This event not only showcases world-class talent but also provides local athletes a chance to shine in front of their families and friends.
very interesting
I loved reading it because, I never knew that maybe chocolate might be gone in the future!
save the chocolate…
I enjoyed this reading because
it show what climate changes does!!
they might have to move most chocolate into a colder place, since the climate clock is getting low
so temperature might get higher.
i love chocolate
I’m allergic to dairy, but this makes me sad for my best friends all around NZ (don’t think it’s weird because I actually do). And my chocolate loving cousin, her name is Dana (I’m from South Korea and she told me how to spell her name in Korean but its not pronounced like Dana).
I know that there are chocolate lovers around the world so, poor them or if you like chocolate poor you (even though I’m allergic to dairy, or to make it easy dairy products: cheese, milk, butter etc).
