Will Jordan makes All Blacks History

Will Jordan has become the All Blacks’ leading Test try-scorer after scoring three tries against Italy in Wellington. The 28-year-old reached a record 50 Test tries during New Zealand’s 47–17 victory. His hat-trick took him past Doug Howlett, who had held the record since 2007.

Jordan scored once before half-time and twice during the second half. Debutant Josh Moorby passed him the ball for his 49th try, which matched Howlett’s total. Soon afterwards, Ruben Love took a quick penalty before Jordie Barrett sent a long pass to Jordan. Jordan beat the final defender and crossed the line for his historic 50th try.

The speedy back reached the milestone in only 56 Tests, while Howlett scored 49 tries in 62 Tests. Jordan made his All Blacks debut against Australia in Brisbane in 2020. He scored his first international tries against Argentina later that year.

Jordan enjoyed an amazing season in 2021, scoring 15 tries in 11 matches. This included five tries in a 102–0 victory over Tonga. His latest achievement places him seventh among the leading men’s international Test try-scorers.
