Two large wildfires have burned across the north side of the Grand Canyon in the United States, destroying buildings and forcing thousands of people to leave the area. One of the fires destroyed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge, a popular place for visitors.
The fires, named the Dragon Bravo Fire and the White Sage Fire, have burned tens of thousands of acres over the past two weeks. No one has been injured, but the fires caused major evacuations of tourists and residents.
The Dragon Bravo Fire began on July 4 after a lightning strike, while the White Sage Fire was reported on July 9 after a thunderstorm. Strong winds helped the flames spread quickly. Officials say that between 50 and 80 buildings have been destroyed.
