NZ Warriors star Shaun Johnson finished his NRL career in style, leading his team to a thrilling 30-28 comeback win over Cronulla. In his final game, Johnson threw a perfect pass in the last minute to set up a try, capping off a stunning comeback from 22-4 down at halftime.
Playing his 268th and last game, Johnson helped his team turn around a tough start at PointsBet Stadium. The Warriors were trailing 22-4 at the break, but Johnson’s skillful plays and determination sparked a comeback. He set up multiple tries, including a clever kick that allowed teammate Dallin Watene-Zelezniak to score.
Johnson also made two important sideline kicks, giving the Warriors a brief 26-22 lead. Although Cronulla regained the lead with nine minutes left, Johnson’s never-give-up attitude was there. With one last attacking chance, he set up Watene-Zelezniak’s third try, ending his career with a memorable victory.
Reflecting on the night, Johnson said, “This is my last game, so we’re allowed to carry on,” capturing the emotions of his final NRL moment.
