Rush catches tennis ball behind back

An Idaho man named David Rush caught a tennis ball behind his back from 60.6 metres away in December 2024, setting a new Guinness World Records title.

The catch was made with help from his friend Chris Stumph, who threw the ball from the long distance. The record was later confirmed by Guinness World Records after the distance was carefully measured.

Rush had to catch the ball without looking at it. This meant he had to rely on perfect timing and careful practice. Stumph also had to throw the ball in exactly the right direction and height.

Rush explained that many things had to go right at the same time. He said Stumph had to throw the ball perfectly while he stood in the right place with his hand in the correct position. If even one small detail went wrong, they had to try again.

After many attempts, Rush finally made the successful catch. A surveyor checked the distance to make sure the record attempt followed the rules.
