Fátima Bosch Fernández from Mexico won the Miss Universe 2025 crown on Friday during the contest held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 25-year-old beat over 100 contestants to win the popular international beauty pageant, which this year had more drama than usual.

Praveenar Singh of Thailand was first runner-up, and Venezuela’s Stephany Adriana Abasali Nasser came in third. The top five also included Ahtisa Manalo from the Philippines and Olivia Yacé of Ivory Coast.

Before her win, Bosch stood up to public criticism from one of the event’s hosts. At a ceremony earlier in November, Thai organiser Nawat Itsaragrisil scolded her for not following certain rules and even called security when she tried to explain. Bosch walked out, and others joined her in support, including the previous winner from Denmark.

Many praised Bosch for speaking up, including Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum. She said Bosch set a strong example for women and showed bravery. The Miss Universe president also called the organiser’s actions “serious abuse.”

Nawat later apologised to the contestants, though his words seemed both sad and defensive.

Despite all this, Bosch’s message stayed positive. She has studied fashion, works on eco-friendly designs, and supports health and community causes.

Her grandfather said, 'We need to irrigate the garden before the sun gets too strong.' Mia looked at the hose and understood they would give the plants a careful drink of water. After a while, the leaves lifted and seemed brighter.
