Man sets record for Eye-Popping

A man from Uruguay, now living in Italy, has set a world record for a very strange but impressive skill—popping his eyes out farther than anyone else.

Williams Martin Sanchez Lopez, originally from Montevideo and now living in Milan, can push his eyeballs out of their sockets by 1.88 centimetres. This earned him the Guinness World Record for the farthest eyeball pop (male).

Lopez discovered his unusual ability when he was around 8 or 9 years old. He realised he could control the muscles around his eyes to make them bulge out, almost like a cartoon character. Over time, he practiced and got better at it, eventually learning how to pop his eyes out completely.

To make it official, a doctor measured the distance his eyes could pop out. When Guinness World Records confirmed it, Lopez became a record holder.

Lopez says people are often shocked when they see him do his trick. “They usually jump back or scream,” he shared with a laugh. His rare talent has made him popular on social media, where fans ask him to perform the trick while saying their names.

“I’ve always liked to make people laugh,” he said. “This talent gives everyone a new point of view—literally!”
