The US state of Idaho has broken a world record by serving up a single batch of French fries weighing a whopping 1,474 pounds (about 670kg) — roughly the same as a small car.
The giant serving was made by the Idaho Potato Commission and a company called Spud Daddy at the Potato Days festival, held at the Idaho Botanical Garden.
It beat the previous Guinness World Records title of 1,452.85 pounds, which had been set in India back in 2018.
To make the record-breaking fries, around 1,700 pounds of raw Idaho potatoes were used. A team of 50 to 60 people worked together to peel, cut and freeze the potatoes, which were then kept cool in a refrigerated truck until it was time to fry them all up.
Thomas Watson, from Spud Daddy, said before the attempt that Idaho deserved to hold the title.
“Idaho doesn’t have that record, and it’s our mission to bring the record home,” he said.
The festival wasn’t just about fries, either. Visitors could also see the famous Big Idaho Potato Truck, enjoy live music and lawn games, and try other potato treats like tater tots, mashed potato and potato soup.
It’s safe to say nobody at Potato Days went home hungry.
