Football at Gordon Spratt has brought exciting matches and tough competition to the 2026 AIMS Games. Despite the strong competition, players have shown great sportsmanship throughout their games. When a player was knocked down, someone from the other team would check to make sure they were alright. This showed that at AIMS Games, caring for others is more important than simply winning.
We were lucky enough to watch an exciting football match and speak with the winning team afterwards. The players had worked hard during the game and showed determination on the field. Their success came alongside the friendly and respectful attitude seen throughout the competition.
A girl from Murrays Bay Intermediate School also shared advice for anyone thinking about trying football. She encouraged new players to give the sport a go, even when it becomes difficult. Her message was to keep trying and not give up. This positive attitude is an important part of both sport and good sportsmanship.
