An Iowa family in the United States has set a new world record, after five generations were all born on exactly the same day.
Guinness World Records confirmed the Harlow family holds the record for the most generations born on one date — 14 September.
Fred Harlow shares his birthday with his grandfather Wilbur, his mother Addie, his daughter Emma Bell, and his grandson Arthur.
“We always thought it was pretty cool, but we never really thought much of it as far as record holder,” Harlow said.
Emma Bell said the family only decided to make it official after her second child was born on 14 September last year.
She had earlier found out the family could tie the record with four generations, but the new baby’s birth pushed them ahead to five.
“I grew up with my grandma saying, ‘You have to have a boy on 14 September,'” Emma Bell said.
She said she had gone early with her first child, so this time she made sure to plan carefully around the due date.
The Harlow family’s unusual birthday tradition now stretches back generations, and shows no sign of stopping any time soon.
