David Rush and Alex Gosch broke a Guinness World Records title in Boise, Idaho, by keeping five balloons in the air for 16 minutes and 25 seconds. The challenge took place on a YMCA racquetball court. Rush is an experienced record-breaker, while Gosch had never tried to break a world record before.

The aim set by Guinness World Records was to keep the balloons in the air for 10 minutes. The attempt almost failed at 9 minutes and 58 seconds when one balloon dropped quickly towards the floor. Rush could not reach it with his hands, so he lunged forward and kicked it back into the air.

Rush later said he was not sure whether the save had counted. Slow-motion video footage was reviewed to check the moment carefully. The footage confirmed that Rush had managed to keep the attempt going.

The pair finished with a time of 16 minutes and 25 seconds. This was more than six minutes longer than the target.
