Chinese carmaker Seres has designed an unusual toilet that could be used inside a car on long journeys. The in-vehicle toilet would slide out from under a passenger seat, giving travellers a way to use the loo without stopping. It is only a patent for now, which means it is an idea and has not yet been built into a real car.
The toilet could appear when someone presses a button or uses their voice. The company’s plans say it would have a fan and an exhaust pipe to send bad smells outside the vehicle. Waste would be stored in a tank, which would need to be emptied later.
The design would also include heating to help dry urine and other waste. Toilets in cars are rare in the UK, although they can sometimes be found on long-distance coaches. In China, some car companies are adding extra features to vehicles, such as massage seats, karaoke machines and mini fridges.
