Steven Adams, a basketball player from New Zealand, will continue playing for the Houston Rockets after agreeing to a new contract worth NZ $65 million over three years, according to news reports.

The deal isn’t official yet and will be confirmed in July, but ESPN was the first to report it. Adams joined the Rockets in February 2024 after a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Although he missed all of the 2023–24 season due to knee surgery, Adams made a strong comeback. He played in 58 regular-season games, averaging 3.9 points and 5.8 rebounds. During the playoffs, he became even more important, playing about 22 minutes each game and helping with defence and rebounds.

Adams is known for his toughness and leadership, which have helped guide the younger players on the team. At 31 years old, he has played 11 seasons in the NBA, starting his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
