A wild elephant named Plai Biang Lek walked into a grocery store in Thailand on Monday, looking for something to eat. The 27-year-old elephant lives in Khao Yai National Park but is known for wandering into nearby areas. This time, he stepped inside a store for the first time.

The elephant helped himself to a feast that included eggs, dried bananas, a sandwich, and nine bags of sweet rice crackers. The store is located just over half a mile from the park’s entrance. Local people often see Plai Biang Lek walking by, but this visit was a surprise.

Park rangers arrived quickly to guide the elephant safely back to the park. No one was hurt during the visit.

Members of the Khao Yai Elephant Lovers Group gave the store around $25 to cover the cost of the food. The shop owner said he wasn’t upset, explaining that the elephant must have just been very hungry.

The kapa haka group practised in the school hall after lunch. As the drums started, the voices of the singers grew louder and stronger. At first, Hana watched the others closely and moved her feet a little behind the beat. After the second song, she lifted her head, matched the rhythm, and sang with confidence. When the tutor nodded at her, Hana stood a bit taller and smiled without stopping.

What can you infer about Hana by the end of the rehearsal?
