A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, a militant group based in Lebanon, started early Wednesday morning.

This agreement aims to stop fighting after nearly 14 months of clashes that escalated during the war in Gaza. Many hope this truce will bring calm to the region.

Under the agreement, fighting will pause for at least two months. Hezbollah must move its fighters out of southern Lebanon, while Israeli forces are returning to their side of the border. An international team led by the United States will ensure both sides follow the rules of the ceasefire.

The truce began just hours after one of the most intense days of airstrikes on Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. Both sides have warned they will take action if the other breaks the agreement.
