A 23-year-old student from India named Tapala Nadamuni has set a new Guinness World Record by creating the world’s smallest vacuum cleaner.
Nadamuni transformed a refillable ballpoint pen into a tiny vacuum that measures just 6 millimetres at its shortest axis. He spent about $238 to build the unique device.
The vacuum works using a small rotating fan powered by a four-volt vibration motor, which creates suction to pick up dust particles that can be emptied later. Nadamuni previously held the same record in 2020 with a vacuum measuring 8 millimetres, but his record was later broken by another device.
His classmates and teachers were impressed by his invention, calling it a beautiful creation. Nadamuni hopes his achievement will inspire other students to think creatively and work on innovative projects.
