Emil Ohlsson and Fredrik Nilsson, a Swedish duo known as the Spin Duo, broke the record for the longest table tennis rally, lasting an incredible 13 hours, 37 minutes, and 6 seconds.

The feat took place on July 20, 2024, at Slice Malmö, a ping-pong bar in Malmö, Sweden. Their success was the result of over four months of intense preparation.

The players rallied the ball back and forth without stopping, cheered on by friends and family. Supporters celebrated their victory with champagne when the match ended. To maintain the rally, the duo stayed focused and even managed to eat while playing to keep their energy up.

The previous record, held by two U.K. players since June 2024, was surpassed during this marathon effort. A technical team ensured that the rally followed the rules, requiring continuous play with no interruptions between hits.

Table tennis enthusiasts worldwide are now inspired by this achievement. Earlier in March, a club in Northern Ireland also made headlines for attempting a different record: the most consecutive opponents in a rally. The Spin Duo’s accomplishment adds to the excitement surrounding table tennis records this year!
