New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is currently on a 10 day trip to Japan.

Luxon traveled to Japan on Sunday, marking an important visit aimed at strengthening economic and security relations between the two countries. This trip came right after Luxon hosted Chinese Premier Li Qiang in New Zealand and followed his recent visits to Niue and Fiji.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by a delegation of 31 business leaders, underscoring the focus on enhancing trade and investment. Luxon had high expectations for this trip, aiming to bolster New Zealand’s exports. He expressed the government’s ambition to double exports within the next ten years, emphasizing the need for New Zealand firms to scale up and expand globally.

Japan is New Zealand’s fourth-largest export partner, and there is growing interest in collaboration in emerging sectors like renewable energy, space exploration, and climate investment. Luxon mentioned Japan’s keen interest in New Zealand’s advancements in the space industry.

Prime Minister Luxon will return to New Zealand on June 20.
