Hobbs Sprints to Commonwealth Gold

New Zealand sprinter Zoe Hobbs has won the women’s 100 metres gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 28-year-old crossed the finish line in a national and Oceania record time of 10.93 seconds. The race took place in Glasgow, where Hobbs became the fastest woman in New Zealand and Oceania over the 100 metres.

England’s Amy Hunt won the silver medal with a time of 10.98 seconds. Australia’s Torrie Lewis finished close behind to take the bronze medal in 10.99 seconds. It was a thrilling race, with all three runners finishing in under 11 seconds.

Hobbs’ victory was an exciting improvement from the last Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. At those Games, she finished fifth in the 100-metre final.
