Egg Heist in Pennsylvania

A daring thief stole 100,000 eggs from a trailer in Pennsylvania, leaving police with a real egg-sential mystery.

The theft, which happened Saturday night in Antrim Township, has left investigators scrambling for leads, but so far, the case remains hard-boiled.

Trooper First Class Megan Frazer of the Pennsylvania State Police said officers are hoping for tips from the community to help crack the case. “We’re relying on leads from people who might have seen something. Hopefully, someone will shell out some information,” she said.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with potential witnesses, trying to hatch a plan to catch the culprit. Frazer, who has 12 years on the force, admitted, “I’ve never heard of 100,000 eggs being stolen. This is definitely a rare breed of crime.”

Experts believe the theft may be linked to soaring egg prices, which have left wallets feeling scrambled. Bird flu outbreaks have caused egg costs to skyrocket, with prices expected to rise another 20% this year. In December, a dozen eggs averaged $9 in the U.S., and with Easter approaching, demand is only going up.

The stolen eggs, valued at around $80,000, make this crime a felony. Pete & Gerry’s Organics LLC, the company affected, said they are working with police to crack down on the thief. “We take this matter seriously and are committed to resolving it as quickly as possible,” the company stated.
