Former US president, Donald Trump, was shot at a political event in Pennsylvania. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released. The Secret Service shot and killed the suspected gunman.
Mr. Trump is running against current president Joe Biden in a rematch of the 2020 US election. Many Americans will vote in November to choose their next president. Political rallies are events where people listen to speeches from candidates.
The US has two main political parties: the Republicans and the Democrats. Donald Trump represents the Republicans. He was on stage when the shooting happened and later said on social media that part of his ear was injured.
President Joe Biden, who is a Democrat, expressed his concern about the incident. “I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well,” he said.
