Cat with the world’s longest tail

A Michigan cat named Altair has claimed the Guinness World Record for the longest tail on a domestic cat. Altair, a Maine coon, boasts an impressive tail measuring 16.07 inches, securing the record from his own half-brother, Cygnus.

Cygnus held the previous record with a tail length of 17.58 inches but, along with other cats, tragically perished in a house fire in 2017. Altair’s owner, William John Powers of Farmington Hills, recognized his half-brother’s lineage and adopted him.

Altair’s remarkable tail length was evident from kittenhood and has now earned him his own place in record-breaking history.
