Black Caps hammer Sri Lanka

New Zealand has crushed Sri Lanka in an exciting cricket match that ended with a huge 198-run victory! Henry Shipley was the star of the show, taking a career-best 5 wickets for just 31 runs! He was like a bulldozer knocking down all of Sri Lanka’s batters one by one!

Sri Lanka was chasing a target of 275 runs but they were bowled out for only 76 in just 20 overs. That’s like trying to climb a mountain but slipping and falling all the way down! Only three Sri Lankan batters managed to score more than 10 runs. It was a really disappointing day for them.

Earlier, New Zealand had scored 274 runs, with Finn Allen scoring the highest with 51 runs. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips also contributed with 47 and 39 runs respectively. Rachin Ravindra almost reached a half-century but unfortunately fell just short with 49 runs in his debut one-day international.

Chamika Karunaratne was the best bowler for Sri Lanka, taking a career-best 4 wickets for 43 runs. But it wasn’t enough to stop the New Zealand batters.

Former Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews tried his best to revive his team but he was trapped lbw by Blair Tickner for just 18 runs. That was the highest score by a Sri Lankan batter.

The second match of the three-match series is scheduled to take place in Christchurch on Tuesday. Let’s see if Sri Lanka can make a comeback or if New Zealand will continue their winning streak!
