Anna Grimaldi, a Paralympic athlete from Dunedin, New Zealand, won a bronze medal in the women’s T47 100m race at the Paris Paralympics.
She set a new Oceania record with a time of 12.20 seconds. This was New Zealand’s fifth medal at the Games, adding to their tally of three silvers and two bronzes.
Grimaldi is now focusing on the T47 long jump event, where she hopes to win her third consecutive gold medal. She won gold in this event at the Rio and Tokyo Paralympics, and if she succeeds in Paris, she would join only two other Kiwi athletes in achieving this rare feat. However, Grimaldi will face tough competition from her rival Kiara Rodriguez of Ecuador, who recently defeated her at the para athletics world championships in Japan.
Grimaldi’s final event will be the 200m, where she is ranked eighth in the world. Her 200m heat is scheduled for Saturday, with the final set for Sunday. Grimaldi remains determined to finish her Games strong and make New Zealand proud.
