A cat named Cilla has won a special award for helping students with exam stress at a primary school in Warwickshire, England.

Cilla, who was once a stray, became part of the school community about seven years ago. She comforts students, especially those in Year 6, during their SAT exams.

Cilla has won the “Connected Cat” award at the Cat of the Year Awards, run by the charity Cat’s Protection, for her calming presence. Headteacher Ms. Taylor says Cilla enjoys wandering into classrooms, sitting with pupils, and getting cuddles. She instinctively knows which students need extra comfort, helping them feel less anxious.

Not only does she bring joy to her school, but Cilla has also gained fans online, with over 26,000 followers on social media. People from all over the world send her gifts and messages, making her a true school celebrity.

The Te Awa Community Library recently changed the way it serves visitors. Instead of being only a place to borrow books, it now offers homework help after school, quiet study tables, and weekly digital skills sessions. Librarians noticed that more families were coming in during the evenings, especially on rainy days when outdoor activities were limited.

The library also created a small section with books in te reo Māori and Pacific languages. Staff said they wanted the building to feel welcoming to more people in the community. Although some visitors still come mainly for novels, the library’s role has grown beyond reading for pleasure. It has become a place where people can learn, connect, and get support.
