Andrew Webster resigns with Warriors

Andrew Webster has agreed to stay on as head coach of the Warriors until the end of the 2032 NRL season. The new four-year deal meant the 44-year-old would become the longest serving head coach in the club’s history, coaching for ten seasons and passing Ivan Cleary’s previous record of six seasons.

The exciting announcement came just as Webster was about to reach two big milestones. His team’s match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Saturday would be his 100th game as a head coach in total, including two games he coached for the Wests Tigers back in 2017. He was also set to become only the second coach, after Cleary, to lead the Warriors in 100 matches, when the club played the Manly Sea Eagles on 5 September.

Webster, who is from Australia, said he felt humbled to have his future with the club secured for so long. He said coaching in the NRL felt like a dream, and that working with the Warriors and its players made it even more special.

The Warriors are currently sitting third on the table with three rounds left to play in the regular season.
