New Zealand’s All Whites were knocked out of the World Cup after losing 5-1 to Belgium in Vancouver. The match was their third and final game in the group stage. Belgium dominated from the start and had 35 shots during the match.
Leandro Trossard scored the first goal for Belgium in the 28th minute. He added a second early in the second half with a strong finish. Kevin De Bruyne made it 3-0 with a left-footed strike from the edge of the box. Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers then added two more goals.
Elijah Just scored New Zealand’s only goal with a volley after a corner. It was his third goal of the tournament and gave All Whites fans something to cheer. Belgium finished top of Group G because of their better goal difference. New Zealand finished bottom of the group with one point from their draw against Iran.
