In a thrilling cricket match in Wellington, New Zealand’s Black Caps beat England by two wickets to complete a clean sweep of their one-day international series.

The home team was chasing 223 runs and found themselves in deep trouble at 196 for 8, with only two bowlers left to bat. But Zac Foulkes and Blair Tickner, usually known for their bowling, became unlikely heroes with the bat, helping their team win with 32 balls to spare.

Earlier in the match, New Zealand’s bowlers had once again dominated. England lost five wickets for just 44 runs, including top players Joe Root and captain Harry Brook. Foulkes and Jacob Duffy were key with the new ball, while Tickner later removed both Jos Buttler and Sam Curran, stopping England’s recovery.

Although England fought back with useful runs from Jamie Overton and Brydon Carse, Tickner struck again and finished with four wickets. Overton top-scored with 68 but was the last man out, as England were bowled out in the 41st over.

New Zealand started their run chase well but lost quick wickets after a strong opening stand. Confusion led to two unlucky runouts, and the middle order struggled to keep the score ticking. Daryl Mitchell steadied the innings with 44 runs but was dismissed with 27 still needed.

With the match hanging in the balance, Foulkes and Tickner kept their cool. Tickner ended unbeaten on 18 and was named Player of the Match, while Foulkes added 14, including the winning shot.

The Black Caps now look ahead to a five-match T20 series against the West Indies, starting Wednesday at Eden Park in Auckland.
