New Zealand Woman Breaks Barefoot Lego Running Record

Gabrielle Wall from New Zealand has broken a surprising world record—running 100 meters barefoot over Lego bricks in just 24.75 seconds. Her record-breaking run took place on September 4 in Christchurch, and was officially recognized by Guinness World Records.

To prepare for the painful challenge, Wall spent two months barefoot, toughening her feet by walking without shoes every day—even attending a wedding shoeless.

The track she ran on was 100m long and covered with 300kg of Lego bricks, donated by a local nonprofit group that teaches robotics and mechanics using Lego.

Gabrielle, a mother of two, said she was proud of the achievement. “I am proud to have pushed myself to new limits,” she told Guinness. She hopes her record shows that determination—and a bit of courage—can lead to amazing things.

The organization joked that Gabrielle wore sunglasses during the run “to hide her tears” from the pain. Anyone who’s stepped on a Lego knows just how much it can hurt!

Although she’s not planning to run on Lego again, Gabrielle says she might try a different Lego record next—something more about building than sprinting.
