Iga Swiatek of Poland won her first Wimbledon title on Saturday by defeating Amanda Anisimova of the United States in a fast match. Swiatek won 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes, marking the first women’s final at Wimbledon in 114 years where one player didn’t win a single game.

The 24-year-old Swiatek had never won a grass-court tournament before, and she had never advanced past the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. But this time, she was unstoppable. Playing on Centre Court with the Princess of Wales watching, she dominated her opponent, winning 55 of 79 total points.

This was Swiatek’s sixth Grand Slam title and her first at Wimbledon. Her earlier wins were at the French Open and the U.S. Open. “It seems super surreal,” Swiatek said after receiving the trophy. “Honestly, I didn’t even dream of this.”

Anisimova, 23, was playing in her first Grand Slam final and had performed well earlier in the tournament, even defeating the top-ranked player. But on Saturday, she struggled, making 28 unforced errors and never finding her rhythm.

Despite the tough loss, Anisimova stayed gracious. “You’re such an incredible player,” she told Swiatek. “You’ve been such an inspiration to me.”

Swiatek’s win also makes her the eighth woman in a row to win Wimbledon for the first time. Her success ended a long gap without a title, her last win came over a year ago at the French Open in 2024.
