Australia has won the first two matches of a three-game cricket series against New Zealand’s White Ferns, securing the series with one game still to play.
The first match was played on Friday at Eden Park in Auckland, and the second on Sunday at Bay Oval in Tauranga.
In the series opener, the White Ferns scored 137 runs for the loss of two wickets. Amelia Kerr made 51 not out, while captain Sophie Devine added 39 not out. Despite their efforts, Australia easily chased down the target, winning by eight wickets. Beth Mooney scored 75 runs from just 42 balls, and Georgia Voll also hit a half-century.
In the second match, Australia batted first and scored a massive 204 runs for three wickets. Mooney was again the star, making 70 runs. The White Ferns struggled in response and were bowled out for only 122 runs. Kerr was the top scorer with 40.
The 82-run loss in the second match means Australia has already won the series. The final match will be played in Wellington on Wednesday, but it will not affect the outcome.
