The New Zealand Football Ferns have dropped to their lowest-ever position in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, falling to 31st place.

This marks the first time the team has fallen out of the top 30 since the rankings began in 2003. The drop follows three defeats during the Olympic Games.

In the latest rankings, the USA has reclaimed the top spot after winning their fifth Olympic gold medal in Paris. England has moved up to second place, while Spain has dropped to third after their Olympic campaign ended with losses to Brazil and Germany. Germany remains in fourth place, and Japan holds onto seventh.

France experienced the biggest drop, sliding from second to tenth place after a challenging Olympic run and a surprising loss to the Republic of Ireland in July. Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea improved to 56th place, and the Solomon Islands reached a new high at 86th.
