Christchurch’s new stadium will be called One New Zealand Stadium.
The $683 million venue, currently under construction, is in the city’s center. It will seat 25,000 people permanently, with room for an additional 11,000 at concerts.
Managed by Venues Ōtautahi, One New Zealand secured the naming rights for 10 years, from 2026 to 2036. Jason Paris, One New Zealand’s CEO, expressed excitement about supporting the South Island and Canterbury. He said the stadium would host top music, entertainment, and sports events, including games by the Warriors rugby team.
Christchurch Mayor Phil Mauger praised the new partnership, calling it a significant step for the city. He looks forward to welcoming artists, sports teams, and corporate events to the stadium, showcasing Christchurch as a top destination for events in New Zealand.
The stadium, previously called Te Kaha, will keep the land name, while the area around it will be known as Te Kaharoa. This honors names gifted by the local Ngai Tūāhuriri people.
The Christchurch City Council allocated $453 million for the project, with the Crown contributing $220 million from the Christchurch Regeneration Acceleration Fund. The stadium is scheduled to open in April 2026.
