Almost 1.45 million people in New Zealand watched The Chase New Zealand, a special four-part quiz show that aired on TV and online. The series was hosted by Paul Henry and featured popular chasers Anne Hegerty and Issa Schultz.

The show quickly became one of the most-watched programmes of the year. It stayed in the top 10 on TVNZ+ during its month-long run and performed well on regular television too.

In the final episode, four contestants—Ash, Andy, Wendy and Kahu—worked together to beat Issa Schultz, also known as “The Supernerd”. They won a total of $43,000.

TV bosses said they were pleased with how well the show was received. They believe the large number of viewers shows how much people enjoyed seeing a local version of the popular British quiz show.

Because of this success, there is hope that more episodes could be made next year.
