On March 13, 2025, Stephen Curry made basketball history by becoming the first NBA player to score 4,000 three-pointers.

The big moment happened during the third quarter of a Golden State Warriors game at Chase Center against the Sacramento Kings. Curry’s team went on to win 130–104, just one day before his 37th birthday.

Curry only needed two three-pointers to reach the record. He hit the first in the opening quarter but missed his next two shots. When the 4,000th shot went in, the crowd cheered wildly.

“It was a special moment,” Curry said. During a timeout, fans watched a surprise tribute video from his former teammate Andris Biedrins, who helped Curry make his first three-pointer back in 2009.

Curry has played in the NBA for 16 seasons. He already held the record for the most three-pointers since 2021, when he passed Ray Allen’s total of 2,973. A week later, he reached 3,000. Now, with 4,000, he continues to raise the bar.

Curry has also won four NBA championships and two MVP awards. His coach, Steve Kerr, praised him for being consistent and brave. “He always takes tough shots, even from half court,” Kerr said.

When asked what might come next, Kerr joked, “8,000!” Curry laughed and replied, “I like a challenge.”

In the same week, Coach Kerr made history too. On March 15, he became the winningest coach in Warriors history with his 558th win, beating the New York Knicks 97–94.
