Sanitarium has ended its peanut butter production, citing declining customer demand and a shift toward other popular products.
The company announced the decision, explaining that the last jars were made in late July. They expressed gratitude to their loyal customers for supporting the brand over the past century.
In a statement, Sanitarium acknowledged that the news might disappoint some fans. “We sincerely apologise for any sadness caused,” the company said.
This isn’t the first major change for Sanitarium this year. In March, the company revealed plans to discontinue several breakfast cereals by mid-2025, including Muesli, Granola, Honey Puffs, and others. These products represent only 10% of the company’s sales.
Sanitarium’s general manager, Michael Barton, explained that the decision reflects global trends in breakfast habits. “The breakfast market is changing, and we must adapt to consumer preferences,” he said.
