Next year’s FIFA World Cup final will include a special half-time show for the first time in the tournament’s history.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino made the announcement but has not yet shared full details. The 2026 World Cup will take place across three countries—USA, Canada, and Mexico—starting on June 11, with the final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Infantino revealed the news on social media, calling it a “historic moment” for the tournament. He confirmed that Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, along with their band manager, Phil Harvey, will help organise the lineup of performers. However, FIFA has not yet announced which artists will take part or how long the show will last.
For comparison, the Super Bowl half-time show lasts about 30 minutes to allow for stage setup and removal. It is unclear whether FIFA will follow a similar format.
Additionally, Infantino announced a special “takeover” of Times Square in New York City during the final weekend, though details remain unknown. With the World Cup expanding in size and scale, this entertainment addition aims to make the final an even bigger spectacle for fans around the world.
