An Indian woman has broken a Guinness World Record after growing her hair to an incredible length of 2.6924 metres. Renu Dhariyal, who shares beauty advice on YouTube, was named the woman with the longest hair on a living person. She has not had her hair cut since 2015. Her hair is now longer than a small car.
Dhariyal said growing her hair was inspired by Indian culture, where long hair can be an important part of beauty and tradition. Looking after such long hair takes a great deal of time and patience. She spends hours washing and carefully removing tangles from her hair. She also avoids chemical products.
Instead, Dhariyal makes natural hair oils and shampoos at home. She shares some of her hair-care ideas with people who follow her YouTube channel. Her record-breaking hair is more than four metres long from top to bottom. It is now longer than the previous record held by Ukrainian Aliia Nasyrova.
The record for the longest hair ever recorded on a woman is even greater. China’s Xie Qiuping holds that record after her hair measured 5.6271 metres in 2004.
