The Met Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where stars gathered for one of fashion’s biggest events. This year’s dress code was “Fashion is art”, encouraging guests to wear outfits inspired by paintings, sculpture and the human body. Celebrities including Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, Naomi Osaka and Emma Chamberlain arrived on the famous museum steps in custom designs.
The event brought together actors, singers, athletes, models and fashion leaders. Many guests used their outfits to show how clothing can become a piece of art. Some wore dresses that looked like sculptures, while others chose colours, shapes and details linked to famous artworks.
Beyoncé wore a sculptural dress with a feathered train and a diamond crown, while Naomi Osaka revealed a red beaded gown beneath her white dress. Emma Chamberlain arrived in a colourful hand-painted gown, and Venus Williams wore a sparkling black dress that honoured a painting of herself. Chloe Malle chose a dress inspired by Flaming June, while Jessica Kayll painted her own outfit with a water lily design inspired by Monet.
The gala also included playful and dramatic fashion moments. Katy Perry wore a mask that opened and closed, and Gwendoline Christie covered her face with a mask of her own face. Bad Bunny dressed as an older version of himself, while Heidi Klum arrived looking like a statue. Janelle Monáe wore a nature-inspired design with moving butterflies, showing how the Met Gala can mix fashion, art and big ideas.
